Dissertation Project

at the University of Sunderland, England, 2004

I finished my MSc dissertation project at the University of Sunderland in October 2004. The research field of my dissertation was Software Process Improvement in the Small. The project was sponsored by SCANPIX Scandinavia, a leading player in the Scandinavian news picture market. As an action researcher I assessed the current practices with respect to software processes in the SCANPIX group's daughter companies in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.

On August 20th 2004 I had a reader's letter about the topic of my dissertation on print in the Norwegian edition of the IDG magazine Computerworld. An English translation of the letter is provided here.

I have earlier written an academic paper on "Software Engineering in the Small" about quality management and process impovement in small and medium-sized software organisations.

The project was defended during a viva on the 11th of October, 2004. During the subsequent assessment the overall project was awarded a distinct A (81%).
